Mike Baur was born in Schaffhausen and grew up in Freiburg, Switzerland. His passion for entrepreneurship began way back as a teenager. He holds an Executive MBA and an MBA from the University of Berne and the University of Rochester respectively.
In his early 20’s, Mike Baur received the honor of advising Swiss investors on utilizing profitable investment opportunities. Through hard work and determination, Mike Baur rose from a commercial apprentice at UBS to a member of the Board of Directors of the highly reputable Swiss Private Bank. His first practice was as an intern at UBS before rising the ranks of top management. His ambition helped him make his way up to the rank of Managing Director of Swiss Private Bank. He worked at UBS for eight years before it plunged into financial turmoil. Later on, Clariden Leu, a merger of several successful private banks hired Mike Baur as Chief Executive Officer. Quitting UBS didn’t deter him from thriving in his new position. Instead, he took it as an opportunity to recruit former UBS employees to help him take Clariden Leu to the next level.
While Mike Baur admits that he was passionate about banking, he had to quit to satisfy the entrepreneurial itch that he couldn’t scratch away. His desire to thrive in business was not the only reason he left banking. Mike Baur looks forward to developing reliable solutions to help financial advisors and managers adapt to economic changes. He admits that the Swiss banking industry is reluctant to adopt economic changes. That makes them susceptible to financial crisis.
